U12s v Vale of Glamorgan

Aberystwyth U12’s V The Vale of Glamorgan

This is an annual fixture which sees a representative team from clubs in and around Cardiff get together and have a mini tour. The Vale played Carmarthen Schools on Friday, running out 30-5 winners.

The heavy rain on Friday which cancelled training for us made the first pitch out of bounds and so the game was held on the second pitch in heavy conditions. The Vale are an U11s team and so the pathway laws for U11’s were to be followed. This proved to be Aber’s undoing as the laws at the break down were very different and the Aber players failed to come to terms with this change. However The Vale showed some fantastic handling skills in muddy conditions to score some excellent tries. The Aber side looked lost and a little disoriented, with only one player being allowed to enter rucks The Vale half backs were able to move the ball away from this area quickly, which allowed their wingers to get outside the Aber defence easily. The game finished 45-5 to the Vale.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Vale and to wish them well in their County Semi Final against Pontypridd next weekend.
