Llanidloes Festival – 12th March 17

Aber U12’s travelled to the Llanidloes festival with a large squad of 23. The format of the festival was a 10 a side affair which allowed the coach team to split the squad into two equal teams and to try out players in different positions and different combinations. There were three players making their debuts with Leo Davies scoring a fine individual try with almost his first carry! Easy game Hey!

From September the standard of these festivals has slowly improved at each event with teams how completing vigorously at the breakdown and their defensive systems showing massive improvement. There fine individual performances thought the day with Mason Lees and Guto James both scoring hat tricks. However this format allowed the players who don’t normally shine to get some ball in hand and express themselves and then come off the pitches with a smile on their faces fully of confidence.

There were some comically moments but the best for me was when Welshpool required a injury sub against Newtown A quick as a flash our winger Sion takes his Aber top off and runs on a fills in at Centre with just his skin vest on and his chest pumped out – brilliant!
