Under 12's March on against COBRA

Aberystwyth v COBRA U12’s Sunday 5 December.

Aberystwyth 35 v COBRA 19

On a cold winter’s morning which saw the cancellation of the U13’s & U15’s games in Newcastle Emlyn due to frozen pitches, Plas Crug was bathed in sunshine although there was a cold biting wind present.

COBRA, who arrived unbeaten, started the contest in excellent form, scoring two converted tries very quickly. With Aber conceding two early tries last weekend too, the coaches will be mindful of not allowing slow starts to become a habit. But as the old axiom in sports goes: “It's not how you start, it's how you finish.”

So it was to prove as Aber were to score five tries to three, with another hat trick for Mason Lees, playing on the flank in only his second game, and a brace for outside half Reuben Price, all of which were converted by Price. Praise should go to full squad who were depleted by injury before and during the game, who showed great character in turning the tide with some committed tackling and dynamic rucking, which allowed them to express themselves and play a brand of entertaining rugby.

We are pleased to report that Troy Morris, who was whisked off to Bronglais with a neck injury sustained during the first few minutes,  was released later that afternoon and reports were received that he was seen munching on a bar of chocolate on his way home.
